To celebrate Pride Week in Windsor-Essex, the Art Gallery of Windsor is partnering with Windsor-Essex Pride Fest to showcase artworks made by members of our community who are 2S-LGBTQQIA+ and our allies.
Do you want to display your work in our Community Exhibition? You can submit any artwork you have made through programming at the Art Gallery of Windsor or on your own. The AGW wants to encourage community members of all ages and skill-levels to submit their work.
Everyone who participates will receive two passes for admission to the Art Gallery of Windsor!
The Special Initiatives Project will culminate in a thematic exhibition of artworks from the Art Gallery of Windsor’s permanent collection, featuring artists who are also a part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, 2-Spirit, Intersex, and Ace community, historically and living; as well as a community exhibition of works made by local community members (scheduled for the Summer of 2022). The project purpose is to contribute to discussion about the fluidity and evolving nature of identity – especially in relation to sex/gender, and sexuality; and to explore histories about sex/gender and sexual identity through artworks and the lives of artists. More details coming soon.
The Special Initiatives project is funded through a Seed Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
